Unity in Community

The past few weeks have been very difficult for many in the Northern Rivers. Now more than ever the community needs assistance to rebuild and restore their living conditions. Many people living afar have asked how they can assist, below we have a listed a few donation platforms that we trust, who have been working day and night to distribute needed goods and support those struggling.

All contributions will be so greatly appreciated by our community, thank you for your on-going support during this time.

Group of skilled, passionate and committed individuals who came together on day 4 of the floods because they could see a dire need for a centralised point of communication between the volunteer hubs that were being formed, the general public who were wanting to help and most importantly, those who need help.

How can you help as a local?

The Byron Shire Council Facebook page is posting updated recovery plans and information on what is currently needed, this post is a great summary of what to look out for: https://bit.ly/ByronShireFacebook

Support the @byron_rangers flood appeal to mobilise volunteers and donations, they are also accepting donations to support clean ups: https://bit.ly/ByronRangersFloodDonation

If you or someone you know owns an Airbnb in the region, offer this to someone who has lost their home or has nowhere to go.

The situation is evolving, and as conditions change so does the communities needs. There are many other worthy organisations and fundraisers, this is a small list and only place to start. The strength and unity we have already observed and been a part of is incredible. It warms our hearts to know we live amongst so many kind-hearted and strong individuals ready to act when it's needed the most. Stay safe out there, we will get through this together.
